Superannuation does not automatically form part of your estate upon your death.

Generally, the trustee of your superannuation fund is responsible for deciding how benefits will be paid out to dependents following your death.

If you wish to direct the trustee of your superannuation fund to pay the benefit to your estate, or to one or more dependents directly, then it is recommended that you contact your superannuation fund provider about making a ‘Binding Nomination’.
